We’re Matthew & Taylor, lifelong Ozarks natives, dog lovers, and the founders of Modern Mutt Cleanup.
After spending a few years in Southwest Michigan, we moved back home to Springfield/Nixa and finally had a yard of our own. That’s when we realized something—keeping up with two big dogs takes a lot more time than we expected. Our Labradoodle, Kai (nearly 80 lbs!), and Goldendoodle, Kona kept us busy, and maintaining a clean yard quickly became another task on our seemingly never-ending to-do list.
That’s when it hit us—why was this still a chore for dog owners? We love our pets, but that doesn’t mean we love spending our time picking up after them. There had to be an easier way.
We looked into pet waste removal services all over the nation and saw that while some companies offered scooping, very few provided a full-service solution—one that didn’t just clean up the mess, but actually kept the yard fresh, odor-free, and safe for pets and families. So, we decided to build the service we wanted.

Our Owner
Matthew Martin started Modern Mutt Cleanup with one goal in mind—to provide a premium, hassle-free solution for pet owners who want a cleaner, healthier yard. With a background in business and a passion for efficiency, he saw an opportunity to raise the standard for pet waste management by providing a full-service solution that goes beyond just scooping. When he’s not running the business, you’ll find him training for his next marathon, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with his wife, Taylor, and their two “Modern Mutts”, Kai and Kona.
Our Goal
You can hire any “poop scooper” to remove pet waste from your yard. So what makes us different? We set out to be the complete package—reliable, communicative, and truly invested in delivering a service that goes beyond just scooping.
From the start, we knew we didn’t want to be just another “poop scooping” company. Not because others aren’t great—there are some solid ones out there! But we wanted to focus on the whole job. Deodorizing, sanitizing, and making sure your yard is actually fresh and clean—not just waste-free.
A lot of companies will sell those services as extras. We include them in all of our packages except for our most basic option. Why? Because we think it’s the right way to do the job. You’re not just hiring us to scoop waste—you’re hiring us because you care about your home, your yard, and the safety of your pets and family.
Will our service bring you eternal joy and happiness? Probably not. But is top-to-bottom service worth a few extra bucks over the “cheap” option? We think so. And we’d love to prove it to you! You deserve a yard that’s clean, fresh, and safe—and your pets do too.
